Before Desertdoof.com ... Dr Dan and I as newbies to the Centre took only a matter of weeks to grow tired of the options in town. We were desperate for cranking tunes to get us jumping around. 'Cause let's face it local establishments have a few generations of catching up to do. Everyone we met seemed to have the same longing. So we took to the creek bed with Dan's home stereo and laptop rigged to a car battery and created our first desert doof.
The lack of quality electro in Alice, along with the awesome people that came to partee 'til dawn kept us going. Interest grew and we splashed out in October 2004 to create the spectacle that was Rising Scorp.
Desert Doof Productions was created when Rod became addicted to ebay purchases of electronic equipment and 'telligent lighting. Louder speakers and more tastic lights were always required. The system kept getting bigger and soon took over the lounge room to the increasing concern of flatmates. Only constant counselling from close friends and a dangerously diminished bank account slowed the purchases. The early parties created the momentum that made future success possible. A dedicated crew of groovy people came on board to lend their skills and create the success of poverty stomp and Earthdance 2005. More people keep emerging from the underground with new freaky ways to entertain. We welcome anyone with djing, live performance, installation and any other talents to join the fun.Special thanks to all the crew for their efforts, without all your help there wouldn't be any desert doofing.
